Goa: Monsoon Miles
Goa: Monsoon Miles
Goa, well known as it is for the sea, sand, seafood and fun, has a delightfully endearing but often-missed side; the less explored Goa with its serene country roads, dazzling white washed churches, quaint local spots, magnificent Portuguese era colonial houses, its verdant fields, forests, farmlands, and ferry crossings.
In August, as the rains washes the surrounding, they leave behind a remarkable charm; everything is squeaky clean and fresh, there’s a burst of green all around, and it’s lined by gurgling brooks, streams and glorious waterfalls. The tranquil ponds and water filled stone quarries become natural swimming pools.
Monsoon Miles is a 4 day cycling indulgence in the pure magic of monsoon Goa, with enough time to relax, unwind the Goan way.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The queen stage of the tour. A day of deeper exploration, longer miles, and richer rewards.
We roll out heading south along a stunning, forested coastal stretch before turning inland—towards the wild and enchanting Netravali region. As we ride further into Goa’s lush interiors, the monsoon reveals its full magic—mist-laced roads, flowing streams, and dense, untouched greenery at every turn.
Lunch is set at a rustic farmhouse around the 78 km mark, by which time most of the climbing is behind us. Riders can choose to take on the full 136 km challenge, or ride till lunch and hop into the support vehicle thereafter..
Back at the hotel, unwind with a well-earned beer and a refreshing dip in the Arabian Sea.
- Experience riding through the fringes of Netravali Forest, where the only things you hear are the leaves rustling and the birds chirping
- Enjoy an elaborate farmhouse lunch at a remote organic spice farm.
- End with a beer and a refreshing dip in the Arabian Sea
Day 4: Rolling Meadows
We begin the day heading south along Goa’s rugged coastline. About an hour and a half into the ride, we turn inland onto what is arguably the highlight of the day—a stunning 10 km stretch of narrow, winding country roads through beautiful rolling hills.
We return to the resort before the day heats up, leaving you time to relax and unwind. As evening approaches, the time is yours to explore at your own pace.
We come together later for a final dinner, Goan style—raising a toast to four memorable days and many quality miles on the saddle.
- Scenic coastal start followed by a stunning 10 km rolling countryside stretch
- Early return to relax, unwind, and enjoy the resort
- Final Goan dinner to celebrate the journey together

Fitness & Preparation
This retreat is designed for riders in good health who are comfortable riding up to 80–100 km and spending several hours in the saddle each day. The routes feature a mix of rolling terrain, steady climbs, and a few longer days, so arriving with a solid fitness base will help you make the most of the experience.
A support vehicle will be available at all times for mechanical assistance or if you choose to ride a shorter section on any day.
Participants are expected to:
- Arrive with well-maintained bicycles
- Use a navigation device such as a Wahoo or Garmin, which is mandatory for this retreat. While a guide will ride with the group, riders are responsible for following the route and making their own turns. All route files will be shared in advance
Weather
August is when Goa is at its lush, monsoon best. Expect a landscape washed clean, with vibrant greens, flowing streams, and waterfalls in full glory.
Temperatures typically range between 24°C and 30°C, with high humidity and intermittent rainfall. Showers can vary from light drizzles to short, heavy bursts—but rarely last all day.
Riding in these conditions is incredibly rewarding, but we recommend carrying:
- A light rain jacket
- A wind vest for descents
- Quick-dry riding gear

FAQs
Is the tour suitable for beginners?
This tour is not for absolute beginners but is suitable for those comfortable with 50-70 km rides. On three of the four days, we ride an average of 50-60 km. On the longer day, which is Day 3, you have the option to choose between a shorter and a longer route. This flexibility makes the tour suitable for a wider range of riders. Plus, we stay in the same hotel for 4 nights, so if you need to turn back earlier, that’s always an option.
What kind of bikes do I need?
The roads are perfect for cycling, so a road bike would be the right choice. If you’re not used to road bikes, a fast hybrid will also work well.
How is the weather in general during August in Goa?
August is part of the monsoon season in Goa, so you can expect rain showers. The temperature is usually pleasant, with everything lush and green, making for a refreshing and scenic ride. Be sure to carry rainwear for both on and off the bike.
Is there Wi-Fi and mobile network coverage along the route?
We should have network coverage along the majority of our routes. The hotel where we will be staying has Wi-Fi available.
What kind of accommodation will we stay in?
For the entire tour, we will be based at Beleza By the Beach, a beautiful 4-star resort on Betalbatim beach. We won’t be changing accommodations during the tour.
How do I get to the starting point of the tour?
We will organize a group pick-up from Dabolim Airport on August 14th and transfer you to Beleza By the Beach. On August 18th, after checkout, we will drop you back at Dabolim Airport in time for your flight.
Are there any additional activities or excursions available?
On Day 3, you have the option to choose between a trek and a ride. On Day 4, we will visit Braganza House en route, a historic mansion showcasing Portuguese colonial architecture and artefacts in Chandor, South Goa. Additionally, our resort is just a short walk from the beach, perfect for relaxation and seaside strolls.
How many participants are typically in a group?
A typical group size for our tours ranges between 6 to 14 participants.
Can I rent a bike if I don't want to bring my own?
Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide rental bikes of the appropriate quality, so we don’t offer that option.
Can I extend my stay at the beach resort before or after the tour?
Yes, if you let us know in advance, we can definitely assist you. Please note that this is a long weekend, so rooms will be in short supply. The earlier you inform us, the better.
